Trulend reviews from people who sent a loan request
Last updated:
Trulend reviews on this page come from borrowers who used our free request form, including the ones who were declined or passed on an offer, so you can judge the experience honestly.
Our 4.5 average comes from 4,139 borrower ratings collected from the 52,000 customers who have used the request form. Every rating counts equally, and low scores stay in the average shown in trulend reviews.
The math is simple: we add up every star score on a one-to-five scale and divide by the number of ratings. A borrower who gave three stars because a lender's APR felt too high pulls the average down exactly as much as a five-star rating pulls it up. We do not drop ratings from people whose personal loan request was declined, people who never accepted an offer, or people who were unhappy with how many emails they received.

Roughly one in thirteen customers leaves a rating, which is typical for a free online service that matches personal loans. Trulends feedback tends to arrive from people with clear outcomes: those who got funded quickly and those who were turned down. People in the middle, who looked at an offer and simply moved on, are less likely to rate at all.

Brake job covered by the next afternoon
My brakes started grinding and the shop quoted $940. I filled out the personal loan form on my lunch break and had an offer back before I got back to my desk. The lender showed the APR and the monthly payment right away, so I knew it would be about $95 a month. Money landed the next business day.

Clear numbers on a vet emergency
Our lab ate a sock and needed surgery. The clinic wanted a deposit fast. I sent one trulend request instead of guessing which lender would say yes. The offer listed the fee in dollars and the total I would repay, which I appreciated at two in the morning. Dog is fine, payment is manageable.

Good process, rate was higher than I hoped
Form was easy and I heard back quickly about a personal loan. My credit is in the fair range, so the APR came in around 27 percent, which stung a little. Nobody pushed me, and I compared it with my credit union before accepting. In the end the lender here was still the better deal for $2,500 over 18 months.

Water heater died on a Sunday
Woke up to a cold shower and a puddle in the garage. A plumber quoted $1,450 for a replacement. I sent the trulend request Sunday night, got an offer Monday morning and signed after reading the fee details. Funds came Tuesday. Simple, and I liked that I could see the whole schedule first.

Declined, but at least it was quick
I was hoping for $2,000 to catch up on some bills. The lender declined my personal loan, mostly because of a recent late payment. I wish I could have gotten an offer, but I appreciated knowing fast instead of waiting days. The site was upfront that lenders decide, so I can't say I was misled.

Daycare deposit handled
We needed to cover the registration fee and first month of infant care before my leave ended. The personal loan request took maybe five minutes. The offer was $1,000 over 12 months and the monthly amount fit our budget. Having it sorted took a lot of stress out of going back to work.

Consolidated three store cards
I had three store cards between 26 and 29 percent. The personal loan I accepted was lower than all of them, and now it is one payment of about $211 instead of three due dates. The lender even paid two of the cards directly. Wish I had done this a year sooner.

Worked well, a few extra emails
Got a personal loan offer for my transmission repair the same day and the funding was quick. Only knock is that I got more follow-up emails than I wanted afterward. I unsubscribed and they stopped. The loan itself was exactly what the lender showed me up front.

Cat's dental surgery
Our older cat needed four extractions and the estimate was just under $1,500. I liked that the trulending form asked what the money was for and how much, then got out of the way. The lender's offer had no origination fee, which I didn't expect. Paid the clinic two days later.

Roof patch before the storms
A section of shingles blew off and the roofer needed $2,300 to fix it before more rain. I sent the request in the evening and had an offer by morning. The total cost was laid out clearly. It's not cheap borrowing, but it beat a leaking ceiling.

Lender needed more paperwork
The form was fast, but the lender asked for two recent pay stubs and a bank statement before funding. That added a day. I understand why, it just wasn't as instant as I imagined. Once they had everything, the money came through and the terms matched the offer.

Got my truck back on the road
Fuel pump went out and I can't work without the truck. Shop said $780. Sent the request from the parking lot, got an offer quickly and accepted a short six-month term to keep the interest down. I liked being able to pick the term myself.

Offer was fine, I passed
I got one personal loan offer for $500, but my credit union quoted a lower APR afterward, so I went with them. The process was fast and there was no obligation. If you belong to a credit union, compare its quote too, because sometimes it wins.

Crib, car seat and the rest
Our twins came early and we were short on the big baby gear, plus a few weeks of a sitter while my wife recovered. Filling out the form took a few minutes and the offer arrived within an hour. The monthly payment is small enough that we barely notice it.

Transparent about the fee
The lender charged an origination fee and it was shown in dollars, not hidden in fine print. That let me request a slightly larger personal loan so I'd still have the full $1,800 for my AC compressor. I appreciated the honesty and the next-day deposit.

Solid, though not my lowest quote
I sent a trulend request to see what I'd qualify for before consolidating two cards. The offer was good, about 19 percent, though my bank came in a bit lower. I ended up taking the bank's. Still, this was the fastest way to get a real number to compare against.

Emergency vet visit on a weekend
Our puppy got into something toxic and the emergency clinic bill was over $900. I sent a personal loan request while we waited. An offer came back quickly and the payment was a little under $95 a month for a year. Puppy recovered, and I could focus on her instead of the bill.

Only got one offer
My credit isn't great, and I only received one personal loan offer at a pretty high APR. I took it because I needed the $500 for a car battery and alternator, but I'd have liked more options. The form itself was easy and they never claimed approval was certain.

Moving costs without the panic
Had to move on short notice for a new job and needed help with a deposit and truck rental. I liked that the offer spelled out the total repaid. It came to a bit over $2,250 for $2,000 over a year, which I could plan around. Funds arrived the next business day.

Furnace repair in the cold snap
Furnace blower motor died during a freeze. HVAC tech quoted $650 with labor. I sent the trulends request on my phone and had money in my account the next business day. The process was quick and nobody tried to talk me into borrowing more than I needed.

Helpful for a sitter gap
Our regular daycare closed for a month for renovations and the backup sitter cost more. The personal loan request was straightforward. I knocked off a star only because I had to call the lender to confirm my income, which took a while on hold. Otherwise a good experience.

One payment instead of four
I had a medical bill, two cards and a small personal loan all hitting at different times. The offer let me roll them together over 24 months. I compared the total cost line by line before accepting and it came out ahead. Having one date to remember helps a lot.

Fast, but read the fee
Got a personal loan offer within minutes for my dog's knee surgery. The fee was about 5 percent, which I nearly missed until I saw the amount deposited. It was disclosed, I just skimmed too fast. Overall the experience was quick and the lender was easy to work with.

Phone screen and laptop in one go
Cracked my phone and my work laptop died the same week. I needed $500 to cover both repairs. Short form, quick personal loan offer, six-month term. The monthly payment was right around $89, just like the example on the site. No surprises, which is all I wanted.

How we collect borrower feedback
After someone submits a trulend request, we send one follow-up message asking how the experience went, whether or not a lender made an offer. Ratings and comments are optional, and nobody is paid or rewarded for leaving one.
Timing: the invitation goes out after a lender has had time to respond, so the borrower can rate the whole process rather than just the form.
Scope: we ask about our part, meaning the form, the speed of matching and how clearly next steps were explained. Trulending feedback about lenders is passed along to them. We also ask whether the lender's offer matched what the borrower expected.
Edits: we fix spelling only when a comment is unreadable, remove phone numbers or account details, and shorten names to a first name and last initial for privacy.
Removals: comments are removed only if they include personal data, abusive language or content unrelated to a loan request.
The 24 comments below were chosen to reflect the mix of what we receive across all six request categories and all six common amounts, including three-star comments about personal loans that did not work out. If you used the form and want to share how it went, reply to the follow-up email; it reaches the same team that reads every rating.
03
What trulend borrowers like and what could be better
Borrowers most often praise the short personal loan form, fast replies from lenders and seeing the full cost before accepting. The most common complaints are offers with higher APRs than hoped, follow-up emails and occasional extra document requests.
Themes that come up most in written comments
What people like
What could be better
One form instead of separate personal loan applications at several lenders
Some offers came with APRs near the top of the 6.99%–35.99% range
A lender response, often within minutes on weekdays
Lender follow-up emails or calls after an offer is declined
APR, fee and monthly payment shown before signing
A lender asking for pay stubs or bank statements, which slowed funding
No pressure to accept an offer
Fewer personal loan offers, or none, for people with very low scores
Funds as soon as the next business day after approval, depending on the lender
Origination fees that reduced the cash received
We take the right-hand column seriously. Because we do not set rates, we cannot lower a lender's APR, but we can make the form clearer about what drives price. Our personal loan rates guide now explains credit tiers in plain numbers so borrowers know before they submit that a fair-credit request for personal loans might come back at 20% to 30% APR rather than single digits.
On the email complaint, trulend borrowers can unsubscribe from our messages at any time, and lenders that contact you are bound by their own privacy policies. If a lender keeps calling after you decline, tell them directly that you are not interested; reputable lenders stop.

How to judge personal loan reviews anywhere
Useful personal loan reviews describe specifics: the amount requested, how long a reply took, the APR or fee offered and whether the borrower accepted. Vague praise with no details tells you very little about what you will experience.
Look for a spread of scores. A page full of only five-star comments is less believable than one that includes complaints.
Separate the service from the lender. A connector like ours handles the request; the lender sets APR, fees and approval. A trulends complaint about a 33% APR is really about that lender's pricing for that credit profile.
Check whether reviewers mention being declined. Honest trulending review pages include them, because not everyone qualifies for personal loans.
Compare numbers to the official ranges. If a reviewer claims a 3% APR on unsecured personal loans of $1,000, be skeptical.
Read the three-star comments first. They usually explain trade-offs better than either extreme.
Trulending searches often lead people to review pages before they try anything. That is a good instinct. Pair reviews with your own math: run your amount through the personal loan calculator and confirm you meet the basics on our eligibility checklist before you send a trulend request.
05
What reviews cannot tell you about your own offer
A review shows how the process went for someone else, but your personal loan offer depends on your credit, income, state, amount and term. Two people requesting the same $2,000 can see very different APRs.
As an example, our representative illustration is $2,000 over 12 months at 24% APR, which works out to $189.12 a month, $2,269.44 in total and $269.44 in interest, with no origination fee assumed. A reviewer with excellent credit might describe a much cheaper offer, while one with a score below 630 might report a higher APR plus a fee. Both can be accurate. Treat any trulend review as a preview of the process, not a prediction of your personal loan price, and remember that lenders decide.
